Our task given by our teacher Pato Chujman was to read this article of Ted Hughes and write a summary listing the main ideas.

This is the summary I made:

‘Pike’ is based on an experience the author had while fishing in a pond. He shows a scene and he’s emotions. But the pond, for example, could represent the conscious mind.

He uses lots of imagery so that the reader can have a imagine the pike and feel like the fish is actually near. At the end he uses     «Darkness beneath night’s darkness had freed,                                That rose slowly toward me, watching.” like if he also feels that the pike is watching him. A very clever end to this poem.
